Fire Safety

Niagara College works closely with Welland and Niagara-on-the-Lake Fire Departments to ensure that our campuses are safe and that fire safety considerations are taken into account in all planning and construction phases.

Both campuses have single stage fire alarms. This means that as soon as the alarm sounds, you must evacuate the building. Do not wait for further instructions or direction. Leave the building and remain outside until the all clear is given.

Niagara College is equipped with a full suite of fire detection and protection systems and equipment, including heat and smoke detectors, sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers and fire hose boxes.

All fire alarm systems are monitored by an external company. When a fire alarm system is activated a signal is automatically transmitted to the external alarm monitoring company who will in turn dispatch the Fire Department. The Security Control Centre (SCC) also monitors campus alarms and will immediately respond to all fire alarms.

If you detect smoke or fire, activate the fire alarm using the nearest safe pull station.
