Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at NC

Niagara College is committed to creating a more equitable, inclusive, and accessible learning and working environment for students, employees, and visitors to campus.

In 2023, the college launched its Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Blueprint, which outlines the college’s goals related to EDI.  It includes four areas of focus: Indigenous Ways of Knowing, Being and Doing, Organizational Culture and Structure, Student Experience, and Employee Experience.

Events and Learning Opportunities

The college’s EDI team hosts events throughout each semester to enhance students’ awareness and understanding of EDI. These events may include Days of Significance (e.g., Day for Persons with Disabilities, Black History Month), student panels (e.g., Trans Student Voices, Black Student Voices Panel), activities (e.g., button-making or poetry workshops). Join EDI on NC Engage to learn more about upcoming events.

Learning Resources

The EDI website offers many resources for students to learn more about equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.

Resources for Ending Hate and Racism on Campus

  • Niagara College is dedicated to combating hate and racism on campus. We have established several policies and procedures to protect and guide students, employees, and visitors on how to respond if they witness or experience such incidents. Detailed information can be found on our policies website.
  • If you witness or experience hate or racism at Niagara College, you can report it in person to Campus Safety or the Student Rights and Responsibilities Office (SRRO) for students, and to Campus Safety or a human resources consultant for employees. Additionally, there is an online reporting form available for confidential submissions, which can be forwarded anonymously to the investigating department. This form can be used to report various forms of hate or racism, including graffiti, slurs, hate speech, harassment, or discrimination based on identity aspects such as Indigeneity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, racial or ethnic identity, and disability.
  • You can also use the “Report Hate and Racism” icon through My Applications in the MyNC Portal.
  • To learn more about this process, please visit the Resources for Ending Hate and Racism on Campus website.
