NC will have a seat at the judge’s table at a culinary competition that will draw top emerging chefs from across the country.

Craig Youdale, Dean of Culinary, Tourism and Beverage Studies, will be a judge for the Garland Canada Culinary Competition on March 8 and 9 at the International Center in Mississauga. Presented by Garland Canada and Restaurants Canada, the event serves as a showcase for the nation’s top emerging talent at RC Show 2026 – Canada’s leading foodservice and hospitality trace event. Ambitious chefs from across the country will put their best foot forward to impress a panel of industry veterans with dishes inspired by this year’s theme: Into the Beyond.

The competition will feature hosts Carl Heinrich and Michelle Jobin. Youdale will stir the pot of competition alongside fellow judges Quinton Bennett and Joshna Maharaj. While the pressure is on for the competitors, Youdale is eager to see who can cut the mustard on the national stage.

“I am thrilled to participate and represent NC but also excited to see the talent of the up-and-coming chefs in our industry,” said Youdale.

Youdale also served as a judge for the event in 2021.
