On August 25, members of the college community listening to 102.1 the Edge may have recognized a familiar voice on the radio.

Alison (Ali) Ryder, Outreach and Education Coordinator, took to the airwaves that day during the third week of the station’s 5k Fan Friday contest. One of four contest winners, Ryder had the opportunity to appear live on-air during the afternoon show with host Casey-Jo, who commented that the NC employee was a natural on the radio.
A fan of the Edge since she can remember, Ryder talked about her love for the station in her quest to be named the ultimate “Edge super fan.” She also told listeners about herself, including her role on NC’s Student Recruitment team working with high school and mature students in the Niagara North and Haldimand/Norfolk areas to support their college dreams.
While on air, she also explained the dementia simulation that she helped develop at NC with the schools of Nursing, PSW, Allied Health and Community Services – watch a video clip of the segment on TikTok.

Now that all four contest winners have completed their on-air spots, it’s time for people to vote for their favourite Fan Friday winner – the person with the most votes wins the Edge Fan Friday grand prize of $5,000.
Show your support for one of NC’s own by casting your vote for Ali Ryder, who noted that she is grateful to colleagues, family and friends for their outpouring of support.
“I’m not sure if my people are just being nice, but I was told that I came across very positive and appreciative, and an excellent representative from Niagara – that was my goal!” she said. “Now, please ask your kids and grandkids to vote for me on TikTok.”
Voting is open until September 8 at midnight through the Edge’s TikTok page. For anyone with a TikTok account, all you need to do is like this video of Ryder – your like is your vote! The winner will be announced on Sept. 11 at 8 a.m. on the Edge.
