How to access scholarships and bursaries, step by step:
- Access the NC Award Portal
- Verify your Profile Information
- Update Student Type
- View Awards by Program
- Search
1) Access the NC Award Portal
2) Verify your Profile Info
Review the information at the top of the page, ensuring it is accurate and up to date.
Contact Financial Aid to request any changes to your information.
3) Update ‘Student Type’
The Student Type filter will default to All Students.
You MUST update this filter based on your current level by selecting an option below:
Student Type | Level |
---|---|
Applicant Student: | Have applied to a program for the next academic year |
Entering Student: | Enrolled in the first year of a: – Certificate; – Diploma; or – Bachelor’s degree |
Returning Student: | Enrolled in a diploma or bachelor’s degree in your: – Second; – Third; or – Fourth year |
Post Graduate Student: | Enrolled in a post-graduate certificate program |
- For example, level 03 of a diploma program would be second year:
4) View Awards by Program
The Program Area field will automatically update to Program-Specific based on your School and Program:
IMPORTANT: Leave the Program Area set to Program-Specific to ensure you only see awards eligible for your program and level

- Note: selecting Any Program allows you to see awards outside your program, but you may not be eligible for all of them. When Program-Specific is selected, it will include the same awards returned under ‘Any Program’ but will be further isolated to your specific program only.
- The ‘Any Program’ filter is ONLY useful for students wanting to change programs where their account has not yet been updated
Note, if you try to apply for an ineligible award, you’ll receive an error message when you click ‘Apply Now’ and you will need to remove the award from your basket:
