The Libraries and Learning Centre team is reminding the NC community about its Workshop Series. This series is a collection of engaging sessions designed to help students build the essential skills needed for college success.
These short, focused workshops are free for all students and cover key study strategies that can make a meaningful impact on academic performance.
Workshops are offered in the Libraries and Learning Centres at both campuses and employees are encouraged to share this resource with students. Students are welcome to attend any session that aligns with their schedule and learning goals.

Below is a list of the upcoming sessions for the Spring term:
Research Basics – Using Library Resources
This short, practical session will teach students how to use Niagara College’s many tools and resources. Students can try a live search, explore the best databases for their program and will leave with a starter pack of resources they can use throughout their studies.
Writing Resource – Academic Writer
Students will learn how to use Academic Writer, an APA style writing platform designed to support the development of long-lasting writing skills.
Effective Note-taking Techniques
This workshop will give students the opportunity to try out note-taking techniques that work by capturing the information that actually matters.
Avoiding Procrastination
In this session, students will learn how to remove distractions and break down assignments into manageable steps to beat procrastination.
Mid-Term Exam Study Strategies
This short session is designed to help students strengthen their existing study skills by reviewing new strategies, creating a personalized exam planner and providing them with resources they can use right away.
Academic Writing
Students will learn how to develop strong arguments, support them with clear evidence, and connect their ideas effectively to create well-organized, coherent writing.
Time Management
Students can drop-in for a fast-paced, hands-on session to help them organize their time and stay on track this term.
Citation Styles and Academic Integrity
This session will teach students how to avoid commons mistakes, use free tools to cite properly while staying on the right side of academic integrity.
Presentation Skills
This practical session equips students with effective strategies to design impactful presentation slides, build speaking confidence, and engage their audience with clarity and connection.
Final Exam Study Strategies
This short session is designed to help students strengthen their existing study skills by reviewing new strategies, creating a personalized exam planner and providing them with resources they can use right away.
