BPSN reported on the Second Annual Niagara College High School Curling Showcase Bonspiel that will take place Feb. 11 at the St. Catharines Curling Club.
Niagara College Knights women’s curling coach Chris Poulouski is quoted in the article, highlighting the program’s commitment to growing the sport locally.
“A component of the Niagara College Knights curling program mission is to promote high school curling in the Niagara region. We want to be part of the initiatives to grow the game locally, by providing local curlers more opportunities to play competitively and increase the profile of our OCAA (Ontario Colleges Athletic Association) Niagara College Knights curling program (competitive men, women and mixed double teams).”
Men’s curling coach Richard Reist is also featured, emphasizing the rising level of talent and the connection between high school curling and NC.
“The talent pool within high school curling continues to grow exponentially and that is a credit to the dedicated coaches and the resurgent interest in the game locally. I’m excited to see them compete in a best-on-best format. Also, as coaches we’re thrilled that several of the curlers participating in our Knights Showcase Bonspiel will be attending Niagara College next year to help us continue our curling program’s impressive OCAA achievement history.”
