CHCH aired a segment produced by Niagara College alumna Julie Sharp, a graduate of the Broadcasting – Television Production program. The feature spotlighted the recent achievements of NC’s final-term Brewmaster and Brewery Operations Management program students, who earned several awards at two U.S. beer competitions.
In the segment, Sharp interviewed students Nate Melo, who won a gold award for his beer Cherry Blawesome, and Marco Turo, who earned a silver award for his beer Vindobona Schrammer. Both students shared insights into the characteristics and inspirations behind their award-winning creations.
Sharp also spoke with Brewmaster Professor Jon Downing, who expressed pride in his students’ success. “This class is truly amazing,” said Downing. “They work very hard, they are a great team, and it’s one of the most rewarding parts of my job.”
The segment also offers a preview of Project Brew: Medieval Faire, a student-led beer festival taking place at NC’s Daniel J. Patterson Campus on August 9, where attendees can sample student-crafted brews.
