Message from President Sean Kennedy and NC Cares 2023 Co-Chairs Becky Sciliberto and Ali Weir:
I am excited to join our 2023 NC Cares Co-Chairs, Ali Weir and Becky Sciliberto, and members of our NC Cares Campaign Committee, to launch this year’s United Way workplace campaign.
Our annual workplace campaign is a source of pride for our NC community, and provides critical support for individuals, children, and families in need in Niagara. With your participation and support, I am confident we can achieve our campaign goal of $50,000.
Last year, as the Chair of the United Way Niagara Community Campaign, I challenged our NC community to increase our support and achieve a record-breaking donation. In true NC fashion, you not only met the challenge, but exceeded it! NC employees rallied together to raise an incredible $60,000, surpassing our campaign target of $50,000.
Your generosity and contributions helped:
- 1,000 students to receive nutritious food at school
- 831 people in crisis to receive mental health support
- 462 people to secure stable, affordable housing
- 26 families to access emergency shelter and full social support for 30 days
- 13 families experiencing homelessness to access emergency shelter
In total, more than 175,000 people in our community accessed United Way-funded programs in 2022, representing a 35% increase in Niagara.
A single donation can make an incredible impact and I encourage everyone to please give, if you are able, to this year’s campaign. One of the easiest ways to do so is through NC’s online payroll deduction program. It takes only a few minutes to complete, and you can select any dollar amount including a one-time donation.
Today, your NC Cares Campaign Committee will be on campus to answer questions, provide information, and to collect donations via NC’s payroll deduction portal or other forms of payment. Please visit one of the NC Cares booths between 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the following campus locations:
- Welland Campus – foyer area near Security and the Segal International Centre (Secord entrance)
- Daniel J. Patterson Campus – entrance of the Rankin Family Student Commons (Lower Level)
Together, we can make a significant impact in the community where we live, work, learn, and grow together. Watch for more updates from your NC Cares Campaign Committee in the weeks ahead, and thank you in advance for your participation and contribution.
