When NC students learn to build an electric vehicle from the ground-up, they will now have somewhere to plug it in, thanks to a recent donation.
Schneider Electric has donated an electric vehicle indoor charging station to Niagara College. The EV Link, Level 2, wall mount charging station will come in handy for the College’s Motive Power students, who will begin working on building an electric car this fall. The donation will help students understand the changing infrastructure, how it operates and how the equipment works together.
The donation was announced during the Motive Power Convention and Green Fleet Exposition at Niagara College’s Welland Campus, June 24-27. The event drew more than 125 motive power educators from across the Ontario college system to participate in four days of clinics, demonstrations, presentations and other interactive activities; as well as more than 50 exhibitors, including automobile and parts manufacturers, who took part in the trade show. The theme for this year’s event was green technologies.
Partners for the convention include: Electric Mobility Canada; Fleet Challenge Ontario; NAFA Fleet Management Association; The City of Toronto; the Niagara Region and the Ontario Ministry of Transportation.
Toth thanked Shneider Electric, one of the event’s sponsors, for the donation and noted the importance of the conference.
“We are saying major changes happen with CO2 reductions as there is more emphasis on reducing carbon footprints,” he said. “It’s very critical to showcase new technologies and alternatives such as electric, hybrid and alternative fuels to educators who will, in turn, pass on their knowledge to their students. This event does that.”
NC thanks all sponsors of the Motive Power Conference and Green Fleet Exposition including Canadian Motor Speedway, Mercedes-Benz, Smart, Sprinter, Niagara Research, Schneider Electric, Snap-on, Faromar Energy Solutions, Subaru, Nelson Education, and ConsuLab.
