April 10 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Join us for “Words That Heal,” a dynamic slam poetry workshop designed to ignite your creativity and foster connection! In this one-hour session, we’ll dive into the exhilarating world of slam poetry, where words come alive through rhythm, movement, and expression. No prior experience is necessary, and there’s no obligation to share your work unless you want to!

Guided by our energetic facilitator, participants will engage in three playful and movement-focused activities, each aimed at crafting therapeutic poems:

  • A Poem for Self-Healing: Move through a series of physical warm-ups and expressive exercises to connect with your inner voice. This activity invites you to explore your feelings through words and movement, creating a poem that nurtures self-acceptance.
  • A Poem for a Friend: Engage in dynamic group activities that inspire collaboration and creativity. You’ll brainstorm and share ideas with fellow participants, crafting a powerful piece that offers support and encouragement to someone special in your life.
  • A Poem for the World: Unleash your creativity with energetic prompts that encourage you to express your hopes and dreams for a better world. This segment will incorporate movement to amplify your message, allowing you to channel your passion into a poem that resonates.

This workshop celebrates the playful nature of slam poetry, emphasizing connection, spontaneity, and self-expression. Participants will leave feeling energized, more connected to themselves and others, and confident in their ability to create.

Words can be powerful. Let’s play, connect, and create together!

This workshop is open to all NC students and employees.
