Moving from a face-to-face course delivery to an asynchronous delivery requires more than uploading narrated lessons and posting readings. It requires rethinking how you can establish a classroom presence and foster student engagement to ensure that students within the online learning community remain connected.
This Spotlight-On-Teaching Session, facilitated by Vanessa Rupay, Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies, supports professors who are transitioning their face-to-face course to an asynchronous delivery for the first time.
The session will inform attendees about possible learning tools, such as H5P, and will discuss strategies that create a supportive, interactive student-centred learning experience. The session will provide attendees with an overview of the approach Professor Rupay took to convert a traditional face-to-face delivery into an asynchronous delivery to ensure students would be engaged personally and interpersonally. The session will also preview the learning tools that were employed which allowed her to maintain a strong presence as professor while fostering student interaction with the course objectives.
