Teaching Circles are an opportunity to step inside someone else’s learning environment – and return to your own with fresh eyes. Faculty choose something they’re curious about in their own teaching, connect with a colleague they would like to observe, and welcome another faculty member into their own learning environment. There’s no evaluation, feedback, report, or record. The purpose isn’t to determine how well someone else teaches. It’s to notice what observing someone else helps you see about your own practice. Once observations are complete, we’ll come back together over coffee/tea and snacks to talk about what you noticed, what surprised you, and what you might carry forward into your teaching.

Faculty commit to five activities:

• Complete the registration form. (approx. 5 mins)
• Watch the welcome video to review guiding principles and expectations of the process, as well as logistical instructions. (approx. 10 mins)
• Select the colleague(s) whose class(es) you would like to observe. (approx. 5 mins)
• Visit your colleague(s) class(es) in the months of October to December (you may choose to visit more than one of your colleague’s classes so the timing is dependent on what you choose to do)
• Take part in a final reflection meeting in December (1 hr)
