A Niagara College student is on a roll with new initiative to help others.
Steve Stone, a second-year Recreation and Leisure Services student and a member of the Niagara College Knights volleyball team, is collecting winning cup rims from the popular Tim Hortons Roll up the Rim to Win contest and plans to donate them to a local homeless shelter. He’s hoping students, staff and faculty will join his efforts and drop off their winning rims to add to the collection.
“I’m a big believer in giving back to those less fortunate and I think it’s a great opportunity, he said. “I, along with many others, are very blessed to have a roof over our heads and food in our stomachs, so let’s give back and help.”
Stone has been collecting the Roll Up the Rim donations since Feb. 19 and the collection will continue until March 18.
To donate
Staff and students may donate their winning Roll Up rims at the Athletic Centre (Welland and Niagara-on-the-Lake campuses). Cash donations are also being accepted and will be used to purchase Tim Hortons gift cards for the donation.
