Niagara College is stepping up to support the City of Welland’s participation in the ParticipACTION Community Challenge, a nationwide physical activity initiative running throughout the month of June.
Presented by Novo Nordisk, the ParticipACTION Community Challenge encourages communities across Canada to get moving to earn the title Canada’s Most Active Community. The winning community will receive $100,000 to support local physical activity and sport initiatives.
NC has registered as a participating organization, with Brett Forsey, Fitness Coordinator at the Welland Campus, leading the College’s team.
Throughout June, NC staff and students onsite at the Welland Campus are encouraged to track any activities, events or physical activity initiatives to help contribute to the community’s total score. Activities can vary in type, length or intensity, and every effort counts.
If you’re organizing or participating in activities at the Welland Campus that could be tracked, and you’d like to contribute, please contact Brett Forsey at [email protected]. You can log individual or group activities using our Activity Tracker – please use the appropriate tab for staff or students. Brett is available to answer any questions you may have regarding the tracker.
The challenge aims to engage as many organizations and individuals as possible. All registered activities will help boost Welland’s score, which will be tracked on a national leaderboard on the ParticipACTION website. The top 20 communities in Canada, and in each province and territory, will be highlighted throughout the challenge. To learn more, visit:
