Welland Tribune: NC joins Ontario Corps emergency response initiative

The three Niagara dailies (Niagara Falls Review, St. Catharines Standard and Welland Tribune) reported on NC becoming the first postsecondary institution to partner with the Government of Ontario’s Ontario Corps emergency response initiative.

The article highlights how the partnership will encourage NC students, employees and alumni to volunteer with Ontario Corps and support communities during emergencies. It also features the College’s new Defence Systems Engineering Technology program, launching this fall, which will prepare drone operators with skills that could be used in future emergency response efforts.

The coverage includes highlights and photos from Minister Jill Dunlop’s July 14 visit to NC to announce the partnership.

NC President Sean Kennedy is quoted throughout the article, noting that the partnership reflects the College’s longstanding commitment to community collaboration and builds on its expertise in emergency management. He also explains that insights gained through the partnership will help inform the curriculum of the new Defence Systems Engineering Technology program while creating additional opportunities for students, employees and the College’s more than 125,000 alumni to contribute through Ontario Corps.
