Welcoming an international student allows host families to experience new world views, without leaving the comforts of their home.

With summer around the corner, Niagara College seeks families to host international students for short-term programing and invites employees to participate in the College’s Homestay program. This is a unique opportunity to embrace cultural exchange and make a meaningful impact in a student’s journey.

For this summer, hosting opportunities are available for commitments ranging from one to two months, with the option to continue hosting into the fall and winter. Hosts must live along a public transit route within 45 minutes of either Campus, or within a 20-minute walk.

Welcoming an international student allows host families to experience new world views, without leaving the comforts of their home. It opens the door to a personal and professional development opportunity, especially for those working in the postsecondary system.

Niagara College is excited at the growth in our short-term programing and the diversity it will bring to the campus this summer.

More than a place to stay

Host families offer more than just a room — they provide a sense of belonging by helping students improve their English, connect with the local community, and gain a broader perspective of Canadian customs and values.

Hosts are compensated $1,100 CAD per month for their involvement. Fees include meals, private bedroom with bed, dresser, desk and unlimited internet access.

Those interested in the program are encouraged to click here to submit their application  at their earliest convenience.
