Students, employees and community fans are invited to cheer on Niagara College’s varsity soccer teams on September 8, when the Knights take on the Conestoga Condors at their first home games of the 2023-24 season.

The Knights Soccer Home Opener kicks off at Youngs Sportsplex in Welland (570 River Rd.) with the women’s team taking to the pitch at 6 p.m., followed by the men’s team at 8 p.m.

Everyone is welcome to attend to support the Knights!

Festivities and pre-game activities

NC’s Athletics and Student Engagement team has partnered with NCSAC and the International Division to build excitement around the games with a Taylor Swift theme.

The festivities will include prize draws – including a chance for students who attend to win a $500 tuition giveaway – face painting, a poster making station and free food for students. Students will receive a voucher to redeem for food, while community members can purchase food at the venue for $5. All the proceeds will be donated to NCSAC’s Nourishing Minds program, which supports food security for students.

Taylor Swift music will also be blasting through the field at Youngs Sportsplex, while any “Swifties” on campus prior to the games will have the opportunity to make friendship bracelets to wear during the festivities or to exchange with a friend.

Free bracelet-making activities will take place at both campuses in the Wellness Lounge – from 2:30 to 5:15 p.m. at Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake and from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Welland Campus.

Transportation will also be available for students to get to Youngs Sportsplex and back to campus after the games. Yellow school buses leave from the main entrance at the Daniel J. Patterson Campus at 5:15 p.m. and the Athletics entrance at the Welland Campus at 5:30 p.m.
