A message from Julie Stitt, Director, Centre for Organizational Excellence:

As Niagara College continues to align its work with the long-term goals of the college set out in the 2022-2027 Strategic Plan, we are pleased to share that our department – the Centre for Professional and Organization Development (CPOD) – has a new name: the Centre for Organizational Excellence (COE).

The name better represents the full scope of our mandate supporting workplace learning, inclusion, and engagement, and the change is timely following the launch of NC’s first EDI Blueprint.

With Social Inclusion and Environmental Sustainability and Organizational Excellence key areas of focus in the Strategic Plan, the new name reflects the broadened scope of our work.

Many at the College have come to know our department as the team behind orientation programs for the College and professional development programs for support staff and administrators. The COE also leads the College’s employee engagement survey process, learning support programs (Tuition Assistance Program and external leadership learning), learning days (Day of Reflection and Support Team Day), and manages our employee recognition programs (Awards of Excellence and Years of Service, now the  ExperieNCe Awards). We also provide internal consultation and learning support for employee engagement, organizational change, team development, leadership development, and succession planning to deepen organizational effectiveness.

Over the last several years, the Centre for Organizational Excellence’s mandate has broadened to provide leadership to workplace equity, diversity and inclusion and lead the creation of the EDI Blueprint. Our expanding team includes Samah Sabra, Associate Director, Workplace EDI and our new EDI Specialist, Brooke Pasco, to support this important work at an organizational level.
