A message from Carly Root, Manager, Community Relations & Events:

I am very pleased to announce that NC’s Community Relations and Events Department (CRE) has recently completed hiring for two positions, the first for this new department in the Advancement division at the College.

The Community Relations and Event Specialists (two roles) will lead signature events and activities that strengthen relationships between the college and our community. They will work to develop collaborative relationships with community partners, support the fulfillment of the NC Advancement Strategic Plan, the NC Strategic Plan, and the College’s Business Goals. Both positions will lead and be part of cross-campus teams implementing successful events and activities.

Lindsey Hendriks

Lindsey Hendriks will join NC on August 8 from her current role as the Executive Director at the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce.  Lindsey brings more than 10 years of experience in business operations, communications, and event planning to NC. Previous to her current role with the Chamber, Lindsey worked with the YMCA of Hamilton, Burlington, Brantford and the Niagara Falls Winter Festival of Lights.

Lindsey is a Niagara resident and is a double graduate from Mohawk College, completing programs in Events Management as well as TV Broadcasting & Media Communications.

Along with her positive attitude and her dynamic combination of skills, her passion for events and community engagement will certainly be an asset to the Advancement division.

Outside of work, Lindsey enjoys discovering new wineries in Niagara, camping, and hiking the Bruce trails with her husband, two young daughters, and their family dog.

Lindsey’s portfolio will include NC’s Spring and Fall Convocation, Dates of Significance events, and Board of Governors activities.

Sarah Scott

Sarah Scott will join the CRE team on September 5 from her current position at NC as Manager of Events and Foodservice Operation.

As a part time instructor for the Hotel and Restaurant Management program, Sarah is a leader in the hospitality industry.  Sarah also led the Quarantine team with our International department, assisting students as they navigated travelling to Canada during the pandemic.

A graduate from NC’s Hotel and Restaurant Management program, Sarah has also completed her Executive Leadership Certification with Cornell University.

Sarah strives to be a mentor and an ambassador for Niagara College. As part of her commitment to the community, Sarah dedicates her time and restaurant resources to many notable charities and community events within Niagara.

Sarah has won numerous awards during her time at Niagara College including the 40 Under Forty Business Achievement Award (2017), Niagara Champion Award (2018), Award of Excellence for Administration (2019), and the Outstanding Team Award of Excellence (Tap-In System Team, 2021).

Sarah’s portfolio will include dignitary visits, media announcements, and other special community initiatives.

Please join me in welcoming both Lindsey and Sarah and stay tuned for further updates on the work of NC’s new CRE team!
