A Facilities Management and Campus Safety announcement:

Please be advised that road closures at both NC campuses will continue this evening (Friday, July 14) from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m. on Saturday as work continues to update the Pride crosswalks with the Progress Pride design.

Welland Campus:
North Road closure. Please use an alternate entrance/exit.

Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake:
Taylor road entrance will only have access to A lot. Please enter/exit via Lampman court.

The original rainbow design (painted and unveiled in 2019) will be replaced with the Progress Pride design which honours the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Due for a paint touch-up, the College took the opportunity to update the design, reinforcing our commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion through increased representation across the college’s physical spaces. This commitment was outlined in the recently launched EDI Blueprint.

The design will feature the traditional Pride flag colours from the original crosswalk, plus a five-coloured chevron and black and brown stripes to better emphasize inclusion and to represent marginalized members of the community. The black and brown stripes represent those lost to HIV/AIDS, and those currently living with AIDS. The inclusion of pink, light blue and white pay homage to the Transgender Pride flag. The purple circle overlaid over a yellow triangle in the chevron on the left side of the flag represents the intersex flag.

For questions about the installation, please contact Jeff Collee at extension 7218.
