LMS review update: Vendor evaluation underway for College’s new Learning Management System

In early January, the Learning Management System (LMS) Review Team began the selection process for a new LMS by distributing a request for proposal (RFP).

The RFP was informed by extensive college-wide consultations in the fall of 2022 on the digital learning needs and opportunities of our community, from which a set of NC priorities was developed.

Informed by feedback from students, faculty and staff via surveys and focus groups, the priorities and features for a new, college-wide LMS are:

  1. Simple, intuitive.
  2. Consistent course architecture and navigation.
  3. Customizable communications, notifications and analytics.
  4. Improved tools and tool integration.
  5. Rich, multimodal assessment and feedback.
  6. Responsive mobile experience.

Vendor submissions were received February 6, marking the beginning of the evaluation period (see stages of the LMS review). LMS vendors who believe that they can satisfy NC’s requirements have submitted proposals which will be reviewed by the LMS team.

Beginning in March, vendor presentations, demos, platform testing and evaluation will begin, and the NC community will continue to play an integral role in the selection process.

LMS selection is on-track for the spring, and the LMS Review Team will continue to keep the NC community informed of our progress.
