InNiagara: College brings Orange Shirt Day founder to Niagara-on-the-Lake campus to meet students

InNiagara covered Niagara College’s speaking event with Phyllis Webstad, Founder of the Orange Shirt Day movement and a residential school survivor. Webstad visited the Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake on September 22 to speak with students, faculty and staff about the impacts of the residential school system in Canada ahead of Orange Shirt Day, which coincides with National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Sept. 30. At the event, a scholarship was announced in Webstad’s honour to support Indigenous students at NC.
