It’s been great to see more smiling faces in person this fall, and to feel NC’s lively spirit throughout our campuses.

Central to this spirit is our shared commitment to support others, including the community around us, and so it is with great pleasure that I join our 2022 NC campaign committee and its co-chairs, Michele O’Keefe and Shelley Panetta, in launching this year’s United Way workplace campaign!

Last year, our employees raised a tremendous $46,677 through payroll deductions and online pledges. These dollars, along with money raised through various fundraising events, resulted in a total donation of $50,909 to United Way Niagara. Together, we helped to keep life-changing programs and initiatives running for 122,919 people who needed it most in our community.

We are excited that this year’s campaign goal of $50,000 will enable NC to further its positive impact in our community. It is also with this goal in mind that we hope to increase employee participation overall as part of this year’s campaign.

One of the easiest ways to support the campaign is through NC’s payroll deduction program. Simply sign-in using your NC username and password, set your donation amount, select the number of pay periods, and submit. Donations made via payroll deduction will appear as a charitable contribution on your T4 slip at year-end. As part of today’s launch, each donation of $25 or more will automatically be entered for a chance to win a limited number of prizes. To be eligible for the launch-day draw, donations must be received by 23:59 EST September 14, 2022.

This year’s campaign will run until Friday, December 9. All employees who donate to the campaign via NC’s payroll deduction program, or United Way’s online pledge form, in one of the following categories, will be entered for a chance to win prizing (random draw after Dec 9):

• Employees who maintain their donation (1 chance to win)
• Employees who increase their donation (3 chances to win)
• Employees who make a first-time donation (5 chances to win)

There are many reasons why our employees give to the United Way. To celebrate why you make a difference, we invite all employees to submit a selfie sharing your reason for giving to United Way.

Photo submissions will be received via an online form from September 14 to October 17. To download your printable sign and for more information on how to submit, visit www.niagaracollege.ca/nccares/. All submissions will be entered for a chance to win 1 of 3 $50 gift cards to either the NC Teaching Brewery, NC Teaching Winery or NC Greenhouse.

To help us achieve our campaign goal of $50,000, your NC campaign committee also invites departments and teams across the college to co-ordinate a fundraising activity in support of the United Way.
