Culminating two years of meaningful dialogue, deliberation, and consultation, NC’s Diversity and Inclusion Taskforce – a collaboration with the Niagara College Student Administrative Council – had its final meeting this June.
“It is with our deepest gratitude that we thank the members of the Diversity and Inclusion Taskforce for their contribution and commitment to fostering a more inclusive, diverse, culturally and globally engaged college community at Niagara College,” said President Sean Kennedy and NCSAC President Sam Jemison.
A list of all members of the Taskforce, past and present, are available on the D&I Taskforce website.
Their final task? Reviewing valuable feedback on the draft D&I strategy born from extensive employee and student consultations this spring. To make the consultation process as accessible as possible, the Centre for Professional and Organization Development held sessions virtually and in-person for both employees and students. COE and NCSAC engaged students on EDI in a cafeteria blitz at both campuses. Tailored surveys were also offered, and the consultations are now complete. Thank you to all who participated.
“We are tremendously thankful for the engagement of our entire college community in these processes that are critically important to the future of Niagara College,” said Kennedy and Jemison.
The work of the students, staff, and faculty on the Diversity and Inclusion Taskforce paved the way to include the College’s commitment to creating a more inclusive, diverse, culturally, and globally engaged college community, in the 2022-2027 Strategic Plan, including the action items related to the Social Inclusion and Environmental Sustainability area of focus. This Fall 2022, the final blueprint – a combined strategy and implementation plan that aligns and reflects the voice of NC community members – will be unveiled.
