At the start of the pandemic, Niagara College restricted international travel for College activities and business to align with government advisories and travel restrictions. Domestic and regional travel was also restricted, in accordance with public health guidelines.
At this time, Niagara College’s International Travel and Safety Employee policy has resumed, and restrictions have been lifted on both international and domestic travel for College-approved activities and business.
Our existing travel policy – which includes monitoring travel advisories at destination and pre-approval to travel – is in place to mitigate the risks associated with travel. All those planning to resume international and domestic travel for College-approved activities or business should familiarize themselves with the policy.
Prior to making international travel arrangements, employees should assess the level of community transmission of COVID-19 at any potential destination, as well as local health and safety guidelines. You must also consider the entry and exit requirements, including testing, vaccination, and quarantine, of your destination country.
Although the College’s policy specifically addressed international travel, employees are to take the same precautions when considering domestic travel while the COVID-19 pandemic is still active.
Destination-specific travel information can be found on the Government of Canada’s website: travel.gc.ca/travelling/advisories.
