The $13 million federal funding contribution will support a new greenhouse technology network between Niagara College and Brock University to build a validation prototyping and manufacturing institute. The network will help strengthen the competitiveness of Niagara’s greenhouse industry by uniting greenhouse growers and technology providers to accelerate the adoption and commercialization of cutting-edge greenhouse technologies. The funding will support three projects which will result in the creation of about 390 jobs.
Sisters Melissa Marotta-Paolicelli and Angela Marotta were joined by Niagara Centre MP Vance Badawey and St. Catharines MP Chris Bittle, along with local political and post-secondary leaders, for the official grand opening and funding announcement.
In the Marotta’s address on behalf of their family, they asserted their personal connection to NC, adding that many of the staff at their Two Sisters Vineyards are NC alumni.
