Niagara College is gearing up for another exciting academic year, with new and improved campus facilities and more. As we reflect on this past summer and prepare for the Fall 2019 term, I encourage all staff and faculty to participate in Niagara Day on Wednesday, August 28.
Niagara Day has become a significant annual tradition at our College. It provides us with an opportunity to gather and re-connect as a learning community, as well as meet our new colleagues as we usher in beginning of a new academic year.
This year, Niagara Day will be held at the Welland Campus (gymnasium) from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Doors will open at 10 a.m. for light refreshments and networking and the program will begin promptly at 10:30 a.m. The program will conclude with a delicious lunch by Benchmark Restaurant in the Learning Commons.
As always, one of the highlights of Niagara Day will be to recognize our colleagues who are truly the best of the best. We are proud to present our 2018 Awards of Excellence, as well as Service Awards, the Niagara Champions Award, and College Educator Development program certificates at the event.
The theme for the day will be exploring our NC DNA. We will welcome several members of our NC team to the podium to share their reflections on how our three key traits – Trailblazing, Welcoming and Passionate – have been reflected in our past experiences as a college community, and how they can carry us forward into the future.
As you may know, this August will likely be my final Niagara Day as president of Niagara College. Niagara Day and Day of Reflection have been among the highlights of my year – it’s extremely inspiring and rewarding to see us all come together as a college community to celebrate our successes, share our experiences, and look forward to our future endeavours.
Best wishes to all for a successful fall term and I look forward to seeing you at the event on Wednesday, August 28!
