Fall into these College fundraisers to support the United Way

The College’s United Way campaign way is in full swing, with several initiatives lined up to raise money for a great cause, and have fun at the same time.

Oct. 1-5: Bench-To-Go Coffee Drive – NOTL Campus

Bench-To-Go will host a coffee drive in support of the United Way campaign from October 1-5. During this time, a portion of all coffee purchases will be donated to the College’s 2018 NC United Way campaign. Funds raised during the coffee drive help to make a real difference in the lives of those in need in our community by supporting essential services and programs available within Niagara.

Oct. 16: $5 Pancake Breakfast – Welland Campus

Chartwells will present its highly anticipated and equally delicious $5 Pancake Breakfast in support of the United Way on Tuesday, October 16. The breakfast will be held between 8  a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Welland Campus Student Commons/ Cafeteria. Pay $5 for pancakes, maple syrup, hash brown and a small coffee – and support the College’s United Way campaign.  All students and staff are welcome.

Oct. 27: Inaugural NC Curling Bonspiel  

On Saturday, October 27, Niagara College will host its first curling bonspiel in support of the United Way. No experience is required.  Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, you’re invited to enjoy a fun-filled day of curling. Bring your friends, family or colleagues and register as a team of four or as an individual.

The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Niagara Falls Curling Club (5801 Morrison Street, Niagara Falls).

The cost is $40 for an individual, or $150 for a team of four (cash payments only). The pricing includes two, six-end games, equipment, a short teaching tutorial and lunch.

Nov. 5: BBAH Charity Luncheon- NOTL Campus

Come out and enjoy an amazing three-course meal on Monday, November 5 in support of the United Way. Students of the Bachelor of Business Administration (Hospitality) program will showcase their skills by preparing and hosting a luncheon in support of the campaign at Benchmark Restaurant. Seatings are available at 11:30 a.m., noon, and 12:30 pm.  There is limited availability so reserve your spot today!

Nov. 14: Fifth Annual Research & Innovation Trivia Night – Welland Campus

Research & Innovation is currently recruiting teams to vie for the honour of taking home the 2018 WTF (World Trivia Federation) Belt from the fifth annual Niagara College United Way fundraiser. Happening Wednesday, November 14 at The Core (Welland Campus), the event will feature a friendly game of trivia, with extra prizes and surprises thrown in.

Tables of up to eight players are being reserved now for $160, through either the Welland or Niagara-on-the-Lake office of Research & Innovation. Many prizes are available to be won, with the winning team taking home the coveted WTF Belt, most recently seen on Niagara Day, and just recently retrieved from the last WTF winners from the NC Libraries team.

The special-edition belt was designed and produced by a creative team of students, faculty and staff in the Walker Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre at the Welland Campus.

Get your team together and prove you are trivial enough to win. We have nearly half the tables signed up already, so don’t delay!

Doors open 6:45 p.m., first question at 7 p.m.

Cost: $160 per team, includes snacks throughout the night (cash bar, government-issued ID required)

Online donations can be a one-time, lump sum payment or spread over a selected number of pay periods.
