Future dental assistants marked Dental Assistants Recognition Week at Niagara College by helping the college community brush up on oral health.

Students in the Dental Assisting program created displays that were set up in the Applied Health Institute foyer on March 7.

“Here at Niagara College, we want to let everyone know how much we appreciate the dental assistant and all their hard work,” said  Jennifer Karnay, placement coordinator and part-time faculty member for the College’s Dental programs.

Karnay noted that students were assigned a topic on how they can help to educate the student population on oral health and how it can affect their overall health. Poster boards were made and presented to the public on March 7.

“We set up booths and tried to have fun and educate the public at the same time,” Karnay said.

March 4-10, 2018 was designated by the Canadian Dental Association, Canadian Dental Assistants’ Association, American Dental Assistants Association, and the American Dental Association to acknowledge and recognize registered dental assistants.
