The fifth annual Making More Miracles in Memory of Miranda Bauer fundraiser will be held Saturday, April 28 at the John Michael’s Banquet Hall in Thorold. The evening features trivia, a pasta dinner, silent auction and prizes and live music.

All proceeds from the event will be sent to childhood cancer research at the Hospital for Sick Children under the Remember Miranda fund, a designated account which the SickKids Foundation monitors. The account has since raised close to $100,000 from the numerous events the Bauer family has initiated since 2012.

John Bauer, Miranda’s father and a professor of Justice Studies, lost his daughter in 2013 to a rare form of cancer called Rhabdomyosarcoma.

Bauer’s daughter was heavily involved in fundraising and seeking answers to push cancer research. She took part in an advertisement called Together We Will, a campaign run by SickKids and its poster which was seen around the GTA. She also appeared in the You Got It photo and commercial campaign which aired in November of 2012 and 2013.

In 2012, on the same night Nik Wallenda walked across the Falls, she ran her own fundraiser and raised more than $10,000 by herself. Additionally, she designed t-shirts and mugs for the Rally for Kids with Cancer in September 2012 which are still being sold.

Tickets for the April 28 fundraising event are $25 each and can be purchased by calling 905-357-9194, texting 905-246-2914 or emailing

Doors open at 4 p.m. with dinner proceeding at 6 p.m. Music will be provided by Stone Blind.
