Niagara a pot powerhouse


An article posted by the St. Catharines Standard on January 27 reported on a panel discussion about the economic and academic impacts and opportunities the cannabis industry will have in Niagara. the event, hosted by the College’s entrepreneurship hub, nctakeOff, was held at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus on Jan. 25.

The article included comments from panel participants including NC faculty member Bill MacDonald; St. Catharines MP Chris Bittle; Jennifer Maccarone, chief quality officer from licensed producer Up Cannabis; and Blake Landry, manager of economic research and analysis, Niagara Region Economic Development.

It also included comments about how the College’s Commercial Cannabis Production program, which will begin in September as the first postsecondary program of its kind in Canada, will play a role in this emerging industry.
