A message from Steve Hudson, Vice President-Academic and Learner Services:
I am very pleased to announce that Lianne Gagnon will be taking on the role of director, Student Services. Prior to her most recent position as associate dean Academic and Liberal Studies at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus, Lianne was the dean of Students and Academic Programs at Northwest Community College in British Columbia. In this role she had responsibility for student services, health and wellness, student life as well as the relationship with student government. From her prior role, she brings extensive experience of community town and gown relationship building. Lianne’s early career was as a faculty member in academic upgrading, student success and disability services. Lianne has a Master of Education and is currently completing her doctoral studies with a focus on indigenous education. She brings a deep commitment to student support and success. Lianne will start in the role on July 3.
I am also very pleased to announce that Joanne Bakker will be undertaking a new role as associate dean Workforce Development within Academic and Liberal Studies. In this capacity she will have responsibility for employment services, academic upgrading, part-time studies and projects that engage employers and the community. In this role, Joanne will bring her extensive experience of Niagara College’s programs, the secondary school system and our community partners together to enhance our delivery of these programs and build synergies based on emerging opportunities.
