Inclement weather expected for Niagara

Environment Canada is advising that snow is expected to develop tonight over southwestern Ontario and move eastward to reach Niagara early Tuesday morning. Snowfall accumulations near 10 cm are likely before the snow changes to rain. Snow will change to rain late in the morning in southwestern Ontario, and late in the afternoon in the Greater Toronto Area.

This may cause a significant impact to the Tuesday morning commute and possibly the afternoon as the snow changes to rain with a potential of freezing rain during the transition.

Staff, students and visitors should plan for extra time to reach their destination later tonight and Tuesday. While we do not anticipate it, should inclement weather affect college operations on Tuesday, announcements will be shared via the college website, NC Alert and social media channels before 7 am.

Together with Facilities Maintenance staff and our winter service provider will be monitoring the winter event and will be salting and plowing walkways and parking lots as the event develops.

Staff and students are reminded to drive and walk according to road, sidewalk and winter weather conditions and to wear proper footwear and dress appropriately.

As winter maintenance equipment may be operating during school hours please ensure that you stay a safe distance away where possible.

Please continue to monitor alerts issued by Niagara College and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
