A message from Karen McGrath, director, Library and Bookstore Services:
I am very pleased to announce that Cynthia Williamson will be joining us on Monday, November 14, as one of two managers, Library and Learning Commons. She joins Gordana Vitez to complete our management team for the NC libraries and learning commons at each campus.
Cynthia comes to us with over 10 years of experience at Mohawk College libraries where she has been Collection and Access Services librarian, responsible for collection development, acquisitions and technical services. She was instrumental in leading the team responsible for Mohawk’s migration to the Evergreen open source ILS and is experienced in LibGuide software administration and program guide creation. Her work at Mohawk has also included faculty liaison, co-chair of the library information services team, responsibility for the copyright and AODA portfolios and liaison with OCLS for consortial purchases. She is also experienced in both in-class and hybrid delivery of information literacy and research skills workshops.
Cynthia is also an enthusiastic participant in the work of HLLR (Heads of Libraries and Learning Resources) and is currently a member of the Learning Object subcommittee of the College Libraries Learning Portal. In addition, she is an active member of the Ontario Library Association. She was 2008 president of the Ontario College and University Libraries Association and has been a frequent presenter at OLA’s annual superconference.
Prior to her work at Mohawk, Cynthia was the technical services coordinator at Lincoln Public Library, a secondary school librarian for the Catholic District School Board in Oakville and a departmental administrative coordinator for the City of Burlington.
Cynthia received her MLIS from University of Western Ontario and her Honours BA in History from McMaster University.
I know you will all join me in welcoming Cynthia to Niagara College and wishing her well in her new position.
