Guests were bowled over at the 14th annual Soup’s On event, the popular fundraiser for social justice justice scholarships at St. Kevin’s Church in Welland.
A team from NC’s Canadian Food and Wine Institute served bowls of French cassoulet and turkey pot pie soup to hundreds of guests through three sittings on Jan. 29. Other participating schools included Blessed Trinity, Confederation, Eastdale, Lakeshore Catholic and Notre Dame College School.
The annual event has now raised more than $30,000 for social justice scholarships for local high school students.
This year’s CFWI team included Culinary Management graduate Rebekka Schmitt; and third-year Culinary Innovation students Darcy Devereaux and Jonathon Weber, under the direction of chef/professor Dave Gibson.r.
