Big Brothers Big Sisters St. Catharines Thorold and District will host Niagara College Bowls for the third consecutive year, an event with an ‘I Bleed Blue’ school spirit theme, in association with the Niagara College Student Administrative Council.
Niagara College Bowls is BBBS’ newest student-run fundraiser that supports the BBBS In-School Mentoring programs at the agency. The Niagara College community is invited to bowl at Parkway Lanes in St. Catharines from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and raise a minimum of $40 in pledges (per person) online to help the agency reach its fundraising goal of $5,000.
Niagara College Bowls is a perfect opportunity for Niagara College students and affiliates to give back to their community, all while having fun and showing pride in their school spirit. Staff and students can sign up their team of four to six people from the event website (niagaracollegebowls.kintera.org) and do all of their fundraising online.
“We appreciate everyone’s support and we encourage everyone to challenge themselves and raise as much money as they can,” said Jackie Penner, BBBS event management officer. “We want to see everyone in their favourite NC swag! Blue and white is definitely the dress code.”
All the money raised at Niagara College Bowls goes towards the agency’s larger Tim Hortons Bowl for Kids Sake campaign which is the agency’s largest fundraiser of the year.
“We had students, faculty and staff from Niagara College all participate in last year’s event and it was an amazing showing of Niagara College school spirit. We raised $5,000 last year and hope that we can match that this year,” said Adam Maiolo, NCSAC’s marketing communications manager.
There will be prizes for highest fundraising team, best dressed team, and highest fundraiser.
