While the scoreboard tilted toward Brock University in the 4th Annual Niagara Hoops Classic, it was the United Way that scored a clear victory as the buzzer sounded.
The annual matchup between the Niagara College Knights and Brock Badgers men’s and women’s basketball teams raised more than $1,300, bringing the total raised over four years to more than $8,300.
In the games, the men’s Knights – who scored a major upset against Brock in last year’s Hoops Classic – fell to the Badgers 91-51, while the women’s Knights lost 83-31.
The results also mean that Sean Kennedy, NC’s VP of student and external relations, will be forced to don a Badgers jersey sometime soon, and will make a $100 donation to the United Way, thanks to a wager between him and Brian Hutchings, Brock’s VP of finance and administration.
