Legislation and Policy

What legislation guides Niagara College in its EDI related decisions?

Niagara College is guided in its EDI-related decisions, first and foremost, by its fundamental commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and understanding, as outlined in its Strategic Plan. In addition to this, there is federal and provincial legislation on which Niagara College relies. These include the Ontario Human Rights Code, the Access for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), the Employment Equity Act, the Canadian Human Rights Act, and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

What policies at NC relate to and support EDI initiatives?

What is the Days of Significance Calendar?

The Days of Significance calendar provides opportunities to build awareness, foster inclusion, and deepen our understanding of one another. Whether through educational events, personal reflection, community engagement, or by exploring resources that support learning, we invite all members of the NC community to take part in observing these days and contribute to a more inclusive campus environment for all.

The Days of Significance Calendar is accessible to all NC students and employees and is an excellent resource to refer to when coordinating meetings, activities or event-planning and as an informational tool to learn more about each date and event.

To learn more about Days of Significance events hosted at NC, visit the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Calendar here.
