College Educator Development Program (CEDP)

The College Educator Development Program’s mission is to foster teaching excellence through the shared exploration of evidence-based teaching and engagement in ongoing reflective teaching practice.

The College Educator Development Program is a collaborative undertaking of five western region colleges. This assessed, outcomes-based program focuses on the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL).

The program creates a learning community that supports the achievement of program learning outcomes, the exchange of best practices and continuous professional growth. Through active learning in a technology enhanced climate, educators develop a solid pedagogical foundation to design curriculum and engage students in a wide range of transformative learning experiences.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the College Educator Development Program, you will be able to:

  • Design lessons and courses that intentionally align learning outcomes, assessment practices, and teaching and learning activities.
  • Design a variety of evaluation tools and strategies to assess students’ achievement of learning outcomes.
  • Implement active learning strategies to promote student engagement, agency, and metacognition.
  • Implement inclusive teaching and learning strategies to foster an environment that is supportive of all learners.
  • Integrate technology into the design and delivery of educational experiences in ways that enhance and enable student learning.
  • Adopt evidence-informed professional practices that enhance your teaching identity, philosophy, presence, and contribute to your growth as an Ontario college educator.

Upcoming Programs

CEDP Phase 1, 2025 takes place August 12th-14th, 2025. Registration for CEDP Phase 1 opens July 2025, closing on August 5th. For participants attending Phase 2, the dates are May 13th-15th, 2025. For participants attending Phase 3, the dates are June 17th-19th, 2025.

Registration for CEDP Phase 1 opens mid-July.
