Using Microsoft Teams to Facilitate Student Collaboration

May 7, 2020 @ 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm

Microsoft Teams is an app that is available to all Niagara College Staff and students through Blackboard. It allows staff and students to create groups where collaboration can be accomplished through numerous ways (i.e. chat, videoconference, editing documents/PowerPoints in real time, etc. – think Facebook combined with Google docs). This app not only provides students with a tool for collaborating with each other, but it also allows staff to check in on group assignment progress, add evaluation measures, schedule meetings and more. This session will allow you to explore Microsoft Teams to determine if it is a tool you’d like to try in your own classroom.

Learning Outcomes:

  • To review the benefits of utilizing Microsoft Teams for student collaboration (from both a faculty and student perspective)
  • To explore and practice using the Microsoft Team app’s features on both computer and mobile platforms
  • To acquire resources and learn how to create your own groups within Microsoft Teams
