Teaching Circles – Organizational Meeting – Welland Campus

January 29, 2020 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am
What is a Teaching Circle?
The Teaching Circles Program provides you with an opportunity to gain new insight into your teaching through a process of reciprocal classroom observation and self-reflection. A small group of faculty from across campus will form a “teaching circle” and invite one another to observe each other’s classes. The group will then meet over lunch to discuss what they’ve learned about their own practice through the observation process. No evaluation. No feedback. No record. Just the opportunity to reflect on your teaching in the company of thought-provoking colleagues.
Commitment – level
Teaching Circles members commit to three activities:
1) Attending an initial Organizational Meeting (this event listed) to meet group members and discuss logistics (approx. 1 hr)
2) Visiting each of the other circle members’ classes at least once in the months of Feb.-April. (3 x 1 hr visits)
3) Meeting again, this time over lunch, in April for a follow-up reflection (1 hr)
