Spotlight On Experiential Learning: Course-Based Research Projects

October 3, 2024 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Have you ever wondered how to connect course content to community or industry? Unsure how to develop industry partnerships? If so, please join this online discussion with the CAE and David DiPietro, Manager, Business Development – Research and & Innovation to learn more about how to incorporate course-based research into your classroom.
Course-based research projects are a method of experiential learning that augment the content in a classroom by engaging a community partner. They apply theory to practice by providing real-world opportunities for students to provide solutions to industry challenges or by engaging in community practice or service. Course-based research projects take on various forms, but ultimately function as a method of satisfying learning outcomes through an authentic experience.
The purpose of the session will be to provide a deeper understanding of course-based research projects, supports provided by Research & Innovation and possibilities across academic departments. Through this session, you will hear from faculty champions who have been embedding course-based research projects into their courses for several years.
Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss challenges, successes, and best practices of course-based research as it relates to their teaching and learning.
