Creating Interactive Discussions via VoiceThread
Online audio and video resources have become essential interactive multimedia components of higher education courses. VoiceThread is an online tool allowing learners not only to access interactive voice and video resources shared by instructors, but also to connect with other learners and engage with course content through multimodal (text, audio and video) discussions. In this workshop, participants will learn to create, comment on and share VoiceThreads with learners within courses in Blackboard. Examples of some VoiceThreads used in higher education will be shared, and participants will discuss potential activities, assignments or assessments for use in their own contexts and classes.
NOTE: Bring a laptop or device to create and share a VoiceThread discussion activity during the course of this session!
Leading this session is Faith Marcel, from the School of English Language Studies:
Faith Marcel is a PhD Candidate in Language and Literacies Education in the Collaborative Knowledge Media Design program of the Department of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning at OISE, at the University of Toronto. She teaches in the English for Academic Preparation and TESL teacher training programs in the School of English Language Studies at Niagara College. Her research interests include investigating educational technologies, including: VoiceThread, AR, VR and Mixed Realities in language learning and other academic contexts to promote greater interaction, engagement and meaningful educational experiences for all learners.
