It’s An IDEA – Virtual Reality Experience in Welland

Ever wonder what it’s like to navigate college life with barriers others might not even notice? In this interactive workshop, you’ll use VR headsets to step into immersive scenarios right on a post-secondary campus. You’ll meet characters from different backgrounds and make choices about how to respond in situations involving physical, architectural, and attitudinal barriers. Along the way, you’ll get to see how everyday actions and words can either reinforce or challenge ableism.
This one-of-a-kind experience was created by local professors and specialists to give students a powerful, first-person perspective on the lives of people with disabilities. Come ready to try out the tech, challenge assumptions, and leave with new strategies for building a more inclusive campus.
