GenAI Challenge – Fall 2026

Loading Events

October 5 @ 8:00 am - December 11 @ 5:00 pm

Running through the fall semester, faculty and staff are invited to sign up to a Generative AI challenge focused on trying new approaches to using GenAI tools for effective teaching and learning. The challenge is intended to help:

  • Build familiarity with the Generative AI Guide and the Teaching at NC resources
  • Expand GenAI familiarity and skills
  • Apply GenAI tools in new ways to support teaching and learning
  • Build community among faculty and staff working with GenAI tools

Challenge information, resources, and tasks will be sent out every two weeks, starting the week of October 5. Challenge tasks will be available at two levels to meet different levels of experience and comfort with GenAI.

  • Explorer: You’re new to AI, cautious about its use, or concerned about how to use it well in your teaching. You’d like to know how it can support student learning and be used effectively and responsibly in your teaching practice and in the classroom.
  • Practitioner: You’ve used AI before and would like to learn about some new tools and try some different things in your teaching. You’re looking for opportunities to build your skills and to better support students in their own GenAI use.

Participants will be able to choose which level task they work on for each section of the challenge, or are free to try both options. The challenge will also be supported with relevant and timely CAE webinars, as well as opportunities to share GenAI work and experiences with colleagues through Idea Exchange Conversations and a Teams group.

If you are interested in participating, please register for the challenge and we will follow up with more information shortly.
