If you are bilingual and have a desire to become a spoken language interpreter, this Language Interpreter program can help you develop the skills to interpret in a variety of legal, health care and social sectors in Ontario for the thousands of immigrants who access these services yearly.

Admission Requirements

  • Students must possess an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent.
  • Students must be fluent in reading, writing, speaking and understanding English and a foreign language.

ILSAT Language Competency Test

In addition this program’s courses you must successfully complete a Competency Test (CILSAT or ILSAT) administered by a provincial agency. This mandatory testing is recommended to be taken after the fourth course – INTR1104 and must be completed prior to registration in the sixth course – INTR1107. Any associated expenses are the full responsibility of the student.

How to Register

Self-guided programs

Students do not apply to part-time programs. Instead, part-time programs are self-guided. Enrol in and successfully complete each course listed on the Courses tab – on your own time and schedule. Fees are paid on a per-course basis. All courses must be successfully completed within 5 years in order for students to apply for their Statement of Completion.

Course availability may vary term-to-term, so be sure to check courses often for upcoming offerings.

On the Courses tab click the course code or course name to see upcoming classes for that course. If a class if available, important information such as the course description, fees, and date/time will be displayed. Click the Register Now button next to your class of choice to enrol and pay through our secure checkout system.

Complete Your Program

  • Once you have successfully completed all of the required courses you may apply for your Statement of Completion.
  • All courses must be successfully completed within 5 years in order for students to be eligible for their Statement of Completion.
  • Please note that recipients of Statements of Completion do not graduate in Convocation ceremonies. Please see the Academic Credentials Policy for details.
