Motorcycle Training — Important Licensing Responsibilities
Important Instructions Regarding Your License
The responsibilities pertaining to your license are outlined below:
- You must have your M1 License for a minimum of 60 days before moving on to your M2. Count 60 days from the date you passed your M1 written test at the DriveTest Centre, NOT your exit test here! (see the issue date on your M1).
NOTE: Until that time, you are still under the M1 restrictions (e.g. no passengers, no night riding, no Highway 400 series riding, etc.)
- You must present yourself to a DriveTest Centre after 60 days and before 90 days has elapsed from the date of issue of you M1.
- If you do not present yourself into the DriveTest Centre during this 30-day time frame, you will be required to re-write your M1 License.
- If you do not present yourself into the DriveTest Centre before 6 months has elapsed, you will be required to re-write your M1 and do a road test before moving to the next level. Your results with us will have become null and void.
- If you do not present yourself into the DriveTest Centre before 2 years has elapsed, you must re-write of your M1, do a road test, and will not receive any time off your M2 License period.
- If you are within your 60 – 90-day time frame now, or on a multiple M1 License (you have had an M1 before recently), you can present yourself into the DriveTest Centre. However, please allow Niagara College 2 business days to input your results.
To avoid unnecessary problems, please put the date you may go to the DriveTest Centre on your calendar when you get home this evening. Remember to take in with you the following:
- Your M1 License
- Your Driver’s License
For our Rider Training Motor-Tricycle – M1 Exit students specific:
Please ensure to state the proper name of the course taken when presenting yourself to the DriveTest Centre, specifically, you have taken our Rider Training Motor-Tricycle – M1 Exit course (GENI1197C). You must advise the clerk that you have done your M1 Exit on a Motor Tricycle or 3 Wheels to ensure that they can locate you in their system.
If the clerk advises that they cannot locate you in the system, follow these steps:
- Again advise that it was a Motor Tricycle Exit test (M condition) – 3 Wheels.
- If the clerk still is unable to locate you in the system, ask for their Supervisor.
- Repeat Step 1
- If the Supervisor still is unable to locate you in the system, request that they call their Hotline.
- If still an issue, please contact us at [email protected] and provide details of location of DriveTest Centre and names if possible.
