Art of Photography - Introduction
This important course is both the beginning of your journey into the world of photography and the prerequisite to all other required courses in this program of study (designed for beginner/hobby photographers). You will investigate the history and the evolution of photography, the progression of the camera to modern day digital applications, basic technical and practical aspects, as well as ethics and the rights of photographers. Mixing the aesthetic with the technical, this course will provide you with enough information to be able to properly use your modern camera and produce satisfying picture results, to understand the technical terminology, and to comfortably discuss photography and composition in general. Students should have a digital SLR camera or 35 mm SLR camera and bring it to the first class. If you are thinking of purchasing a new camera and aren't sure of what you need, the instructor will advise in the first class.
