A Niagara College team is going the distance to help raise funds for the hungry, homeless and hurting in the community – and they’re looking for staff, faculty and students to join them.
Join the Niagara College Knight Walkers for the Coldest Night of the Year, Canada’s National Walk for Homelessness. To be held on Saturday, February 25, the family-friendly walking fundraiser takes place in more than 100 communities across Canada.
The Niagara Knight Walkers – led by Hairstyling program coordinator Joe Abbruscato – will be participating in the annual 5 km walk in Niagara Falls which will raise money for Project Share. The Niagara Falls-based charity provides emergency food and support services to residents who live on or below the poverty line.
The walk will begin at 4 p.m. at St. Paul Catholic High School. A warm light meal will be served to all walkers and volunteers between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. to conclude the event.
Students who participate will not only have an opportunity to help those in need, they will receive a credit on their Co-Curricular Record, and receive Community Service Hours.
Niagara College has been well represented at this annual event in recent years. In 2015, the team was noted for being the seventh largest team in Canada to participate in the nation-wide event.
